Welcome home address to Stephen Van Rensselaer (manuscript), 1827 March 14.

The author of this document is unidentified other than the initials P.P. The address (free verse poem) was sent to John D. Willard of Troy, New York, with the following request: "Please give the enclosed 'Welcome home' addressed to the honorable Stephen Van Rensselaer Esq. a place in the advocate..." An endorsement on back indicates it was a "poem for the Sentinel." The Sentinel was a newspapers published in Troy at the time. The verse appears to be related to Van Rensselaer's return to private life after having served in U.S. Congress from 1822 to 1827.
